Beautiful nails make me happy and I always head down to the nail salon after a busy day at work.  However, most nail salon therapist always start by asking me what type of manicure and pedicure services I would like to have today.

Well, with so many new services, the menu is easily filled with more than 5 different types of services, just for gelish manicure alone.  Let us look at some of the common types of manicure and pedicure services.  It will save you a lot of time browsing the menu the next time you head to a nail salon.

Express Manicure

An express manicure is a short and efficient manicure session.  The manicurist will start the session by soaking your hands in warm water or apply a layer of gel to soften any dead cuticles.  The manicurist will then file, buff trim off the cuticles, and a swift massage to nourish your hands.  She will then apply the base coat and topcoat. Lastly, cuticle oil is applied on your nail bed and fingers and the express manicure is done.

How long does it take? A basic gel express nails manicure takes up to 30 minutes to complete.  Express gel nail polish usually do not last as long as classic gel manicure the nail polish lifts up easily due to the excess cuticles on your natural nails.

Classic Gelish Manicure

A classic gelish manicure is the same process as the express manicure, with the addition of a gel polish nail colour.  A classic gelish manicure comes with only 1 gelish nail polish colour application.

How long does it take? A basic manicure takes up to 45 minutes.

Gel Manicure with Nail Art

Gel manicure with nail art as the name suggests is gelish nail colors manicure with nail art.  You may choose a simple nail art, or top it off with special 3D nail art accessories.

How long does it take? A gel manicure with nail art usually takes a min of 90 minutes, depending on the complexity of the nail art design.

French Manicure

French manicure is back as we have spotted celebrities like Dove Cameron, Katy Perry, Kylie Jenner, and more wearing the French manicure with a twist.  A classic French manicure usually comes with a nude or sheer pink base tone, tipped with a white nail tip.

Reverse French Manicure

A reverse french manicure is simply the mirror image of the classic french and highlights the lower part of your nail.  It is also commonly known as the "half crescent." 

How long does it take? A French manicure or Reverse French takes up to 45 to 60 minutes.

American Manicure

The American manicure is somewhat similar to French manicure.  The significant difference lies in the base colour.  For American manicure, the base polish is transparent, showing your natural nail base with a nude or white tip.

How long does it take? American manicure takes up to 45 to 60 minutes.

Spa Manicure

A spa manicure is a relaxing and therapeutic manicure.  With the addition of mud spa and organic bath scrubs during the manicure service.  There is also a winding massage with nourishing oils.  Everything you need to pamper your hands.

How long does it take? A French manicure takes up to 120 minutes. 

Paraffin Manicure

A paraffin manicure is a nail treatment session and hydrates dry and tired skin.  A paraffin  treatment is recommended for very dry skin as the warm wax opens the pores and improves blood circulation.

How long does it take? A paraffin manicure treatment takes 20 - 30 minutes and can last for 1 - 2 weeks.

How long does it last? A gelish manicure can last anywhere up to 2 to 3 weeks if applied properly.
