How To Do Your Own Pedicure At Home
Give your feet the pampering it deserves during the circuit breaker. Here are some simple steps to do your own pedicure at home. Fix your toenails and nourish those cracked heels so your feet will not be painful and dry. Follow these simple steps and we promise your feet will feel rejuvenated and feel much lighter when you are walking.
Remove the existing nail polish
Remove any existing nail polish. If you have applied normal polish, simply remove it using acetone or any nail polish remover that you can easily get from major supermarkets.
However, if you have gel manicure, then you may read our gel manicure post to learn how you can remove gel manicure at home. It is recommended that you do not attempt to remove gel manicure on your own unless totally necessary.
Soak your feet in a tub of warm water
Prepare a tub of lukewarm water and give your feet a foot soak. You may add in essential oils like lavender to relax your feet, or peppermint to rejuvenate tired feet. Throw in a teaspoon of epson salt for best results. Enjoy the foot soak for about 10 to 15 minutes.
Dry your feet with clean towel
Dry your feet well with clean towels as you do not want to introduce bacteria into your feet. Mold and fungus grow well when water is trapped in between the nails and skin.
Trim and cut your toe nails
It is important to sterilize your equipment before you trim and cut your toe nails. You do not want to cut your nails too short as you may bleed. Also pay attention to the sides of the toenails so there will not be ingrown nails.
File and Buff
File your nails in one direction to prevent brittle and cracked nails. Buffing keeps your nails healthy and polished.
Scrub heels
Remove any dead skin from piling up using a pumice stone. This promotes new skin growth, keeping your heels smooth and beautiful. Dead skin may lead to cracked heels, which are not only unsightly, and painful too.
Apply foot scrub
Lather a gernours amount of foot scrub onto your clean feet. Apply the scrub in a circular motion. Rinse off any scrub afterwards with water.
Apply citrus on yellow nails
Browse through your refrigerator. Pick up any type of citrus fruits like oranges, lemons, limes etc. These fruits are packed with Vitamin C and helps to reduce the yellow coloration on your nails. When you keep your nail polish for long periods of time, it causes the yellow coloration on your nails.
Slice the citrus fruits into small circular rings, and place them directly on top of your toenails. Keep it there for about 10 to 15 minutes and rinse off.
Moisturize and nourish
Now, all you need to do is moisturize your clean feet. Keeping your feet moisturized is important as cracked heels reveal your age too. You do not want to give away your age with ugly cracked heels.

Apply your favorite nail polish, let it air dry and you are set. Beautifully polished nails right at home. Alternatively, you can always book an appointment with us at Move Manicure. Let our manicurists come and service you instead.
